Re: Not long til our new arrival! I can't handle how cute she is. Puppy belly is really my kryptonite. Congrats!! Take pictures every week if you can because they grow up so fast and in just a few weeks you won't be able to believe how big she's gotten. Luke went from 12 pounds to 30 in what seems like an instant.
Re: Not long til our new arrival! She's gorgeous! The music sounds good training! If I'm out or busy, I've left mine listening to Classic FM in their crates since they were puppies!
Re: Not long til our new arrival! How was your first night? We also set the alarm - for 3, but my husband wasn't sure whether she'd been and so the next night he didn't bother. And she's been dry every night since then apart from once when we forgot to set the alarm and woke to her whimpering - she must have been uncomfortable- poor thing. I get a lot of amused looks with her in the doggy bag - but it's been a great way to show her the world. Albeit I can already tell the different in how much she weighs 10 days in.
Re: Not long til our new arrival! I posted from my phone and didn't see the photos - what a cutie! And well done you for learning how to post photos. I must follow your good example! How old is she - she looks younger than Ember did when we brought her home (8.5 weeks).
Re: Not long til our new arrival! Nighttimes have being going well, she's been in a travel crate by my bed and apart from a bit of whining because she wanted to play (the waggy tail on the side of the crate gave her away!) she's been really good. On the second night I slept through my 1am alarm and was woken by her whining, but not til half 4! I felt so incredibly guilty, but she was fine and still hadn't gone in her bed. We've got a puppy sling that a friend leant us and had our first outing, other than the vets, today and yes, lots of people highly amused by her peeking out of it! We said hello to some donkeys and a man in a bicycle helmet, amongst others, so a few more things to tick off the list. Also a gorgeous older puppy, spaniel I think, who was training as a hearing dog. She's 9 weeks old today, and was weighed yesterday at 4.8kg. Judging by her parents,I don't think she's going to be particularly big, her dad's a working dog and her mum was also on the smaller side. Tonight is her first night in her proper crate in the kitchen, I'm currently sitting in the next room where I'll sleep on the sofa tonight. All is quiet so far, so fingers crossed for another good night!
Re: Not long til our new arrival! Sounds like she's doing brilliant,so cute in the puppy sling You are doing great with the socialization...if I had a puppy again I would be out and about everywhere...we didn't get our boy until he was 5 months so I missed this incredibly valuable time.
On the second night I slept through my 1am alarm
Whaaaaaaat?id be happy just to sleep UNTIL my alarm, let alone through it,you lucky thing!Dont worry ,once she has commandeered your bed ( don't waste the words saying that won't happen....I was the same and what did I know!) when the alarm goes off she will climb on top of you and lay her whole body the length of you to save you from ever oversleeping again!arent we lucky owning labs! ;D
Re: Not long til our new arrival! What a beautiful puppy I agree about the socialisation so keep going with. We got Charlie our rescue dog at 9 months so we too missed out on this very important time and it's much harder catching up with a large strong grown up boy : x
Re: Not long til our new arrival! She's lovely! Great idea to use a puppy sling - I do the same with the pus and have it ready for the next one ;D

Re: Not long til our new arrival! Never let the kids in my bed so there's no way that the dog will be allowed! She is quite little isn't she? Ember was 5kg at 9 weeks and feels like she's got a lot bigger in the last week. She's also learnt to "stand" up in the sling which is a bit alarming as it feels as if she might be ready to leap out at any time. Then again I took her to the front door last night and she wriggled so much I realised how lucky I was to have it as she's now visited - school, shops, nursery and the park. Thinking we'lll squeeze a beach visit in before she's allowed off the lead, but will need to wait to do the country side till after she's allowed down on the ground.
Re: Not long til our new arrival! She is gorgeous! I'm so sad that our Tess's puppy belly is getting hairy Where is she from? She looks quite like our Tess
