We are going on a tour of the Guide Dogs Breeding Centre on the 1st of July - which is when Twiglet and her litter mates will be there! (They go there for a week, after leaving the brood bitch holder's home, for assessment, health checks etc before they come out to us puppy walkers) **happy dance** http://www.guidedogs.org.uk/aboutus...e/visit-the-nbc/scheduled-tours/#.VYF9FvlVikp
Aw, exciting times ahead. Not long before Twiglet joins you and Tatze and we get to see lots of lovely puppy photos
Will she be Twiggie? Or do we have to use her proper name? I suppose you'll have to meet her to find out...
I have to use her proper name - when I told my supervisor I wanted to call Gypsy 'Gyp' she said 'sorry, no - she must keep her given name right through'
Oh lovely news, you get to see her. I was thinking about you Mags yesterday.I' m slow to catch up on the Me and My Guide Dog program with being away so much so I indulged in both episodes yesterday afternoon.Aside from being in tears for most of it ( as expected !) my admiration for you just grew...you've done a phenomenal job with Gypsy and I know Twiglet will get the same care and attention ,can't wait to see some pics x
Thank you so much everyone. It's my son's wedding on Saturday but I am far more excited about the puppy than the wedding! (us dog folk, eh?! ) Tatze hasn't missed Gypsy at all. When my friend's dog, Zaba, comes to stay she looks for him and paces and whines when he has left - there has been none of that after Gypsy leaving. She must know that her role is Guide Dog Puppy Big Sisiter! I am the one in bits - even 'tho I have heard three times from her boarder and she's really settled and goes off to school wagging each day. I haven't heard from her trainer yet so I am on pins every time the phone rings. When I drove home from leaving Gypsy I thought 'that's it, I can't do this again.' She's a yellow Lab/GR and will be 7 weeks old - a tiny baby!
Ah well, the activity around the wedding will be a distraction to fill in the time until Twiglet arrives Probably good that you had already committed to taking another pup before Gypsy went off to big school I really admire you being able to do this. You'll never forget Gypsy, but Twiglet will bring you just as much joy I'm sure
Thanks for the info Mags. I am hoping to book a tour during the school holidays. I have been lucky enough to Hear Dogs centre near Saunderton. Quite humbling to be taken on a conducted tour by a profoundly deaf person who didn't skip a beat. One thing though, I was expecting Twiglet to a Choccie because of the name.
Now I am excited too. I e-mailed them and asked if there were any vacancies on tours during the summer holidays. I was sure they would be fully booked. They e-mailed me back and offered me a date in July for my daughter, my grandson and me. So chuffed. Thanks.
