I know it's only in the house but we had an impromptu game of retrieving the Kong this afternoon and even with Riley close by Obi brought it all the way back and leapt in my lap to give it back for another go over and over again. He even managed to let Riley have a go too - eventually ;D

Sounds like he's doing really well, Barbara. What does Riley think of him?

Riley loves a good wrestle with him in the house but in the garden they pretty much do their own thing. Obi will steal anything off Riley given half a chance and Riley just lets him.

If I could start to crack his heelwork I would be absolutely thrilled but it's proving a long hard slog at the moment. I'm hoping at some point something in his little spaniel brain clicks and it becomes slightly less hard work.......I can dream

He sounds gorgeous, but a bit of a challenge.

    Oh wait, he's a spaniel, of course he's a challenge!!! ;)

I could click through to view it on facebook at first, but now I can't, I get an error message. It's worth seeing though, Barbara is giving very clear cues, and the placeboards used very well.

Very odd! It's definitely still there. I will try and get it into photobucket but last time I tried it went in upside down.....will post again if I manage it!!

Brilliant, I can see it now too. That is really good, Obi is doing really well and Riley was an absolute star.

    Re: Obi spaniels training log

We've been working on control recently......

The place boards are still working well in the garden and the hunting seems to be ok but I really need to get Obi to some spaniel experts to give me some guidance on how we're doing on that front and anything I should do differently as it's outside of my experience.

We've been doing quite a bit of on lead heelwork and OH has been helping in an attempt to A improve his heelwork obviously but B get Obi not to fixate on me. He's getting much better at being left, the vocals have definitely decreased and he seems to be enjoying his kongs which is all good.

I hesitate it say we're working on heelwork really but we are trying to get a decent loose lead walk so we can cruise around without being towed by a steam train!!!

And he's getting much, MUCH better. We did have to do some turns and resets but we got all the way down the hill to the postbox yesterday ;D we were walking in the middle of the road but it's all progress! ;D
