We had a brilliant day
Does anyone know where I can watch the breed classes? Agility and fly all is lovely, but I want to see the show stuff, too!
Bit more info here @snowbunny. We are still deciding about going, really interested to get a bit closer to some show chocs http://metro.co.uk/2017/03/08/cruft...ickets-tv-listings-and-full-schedule-6497135/
I gave no idea how to out photos on sorry. Just imagine a very skinny excited lab with a big smile. I got him this toy with two balls on either end of a thick rope. He was transported to a world if deep Labrador joy. Best toy ever
I have always revised for exams etc with the TV on . We love watching flyball and the agility on TV although the cats aren't so impressed with dogs on TV
Great fun at Crufts and saw some super Labs on the show ring. Met lots of lovely dogs in the Discover Dogs and gained a huge amount of food samples and treats to stagger home with. Watched a great placeboard training session from the wonderful Jane Ardern and had some lovely chats with people at the APDT and IMDT stand to mention just a few plus a quick chat with Steve Mann and the lovely Nando and Jo-Rosie - almost worth going for that alone . Might also have decided what the next pup will be
I witnessed some pretty rough handling of dogs if they didn't 'comply' such as gripping hard around the snout, slapping, harsh tugging on those damn awful show leads. Even in the 'young handlers' ring, some as young as 9 years old are learning early to treat their dogs harshly with the same sort of treatment. Heard a tannoy announcement for an owner to return to their dog as it was in a great deal of distress. All too much for me, too upsetting, I am far too soft I did pop along to the Pets as Therapy stand to say hello which was lovely, nice, kind owners there. So a nicer note to end my visit on xx
Oh Helen so sorry you didn't enjoy the experience . I was lucky to see some lively handling in the ring when I was watching earlier unfortunately there are some die hards who think that behaviour is necessary. Glad you enjoyed meeting the PAT dogs - shame you couldn't be there as part of the team with Hattie.
I met him this morning on I think it was the Natural Instinct stand. You do know he is now engaged to Jo-Rosie with a gorgeous little boy don't you? Have to agree with you though he is definitely fanciable
That's a shame to hear, though I'm glad you got in a visit to the PAT stand. I've never been to a UK dog show, but I imagine at the heart it's like ones I've seen - 98% of the dogs and people want to be there, but there's always that small minority that should really take up another activity. The show I went to last weekend here in Spain also had a few leash tuggers in the crowd, but my favourite Lab and his person were so in synch and he clearly loved that dog with all his heart - it was great to see them in the ring.
I don't think you are soft at all you're right. This should not be happening. believe me someone will complain about them. Its not acceptable. My first gundog event was ruined by a young woman kicking her dog .
