Thanks so much for letting us know how it went. You are absolutely doing the best thing for these pups. In other hands they could have been in lifelong agony, but you are saving them from that. All my very, very best wishes and thoughts go out to you and your pups.

Goodness, late to this but I hope you're all bearing up and that life becomes easier for you and the pups soon.

Hi all, thx so much for your lovely wishes ... So here's another quick update on Beaux and Bella ....mainly to let you all know how they are progressing but also to encourage anyone who may end up in this situation and has to weigh up what to do ... Perhaps my posts may help you or warn you to get things checked ASAP as weeks can make a difference to the outcome if they are young ...

Bella is doing well and is up and about and eating well, she is coming home on Monday! Hurrah :) Beaux is really suffering and has only just started taking teaspoons of food, she is low and in a lot of pain, this is v hard to digest, she is still being sedated to keep her still but I am really struggling with the severity of her 3 ops, we have been praying every day that she'll make it through the night and we still have many weeks ahead. However, she is improving I'm told today and in slightly better spirits but at least a week away from coming home, I feel terrible for her but I've had to switch off a bit as I really need to sleep be mentally prepared and strong for their arrival home as I think life is going to get tougher!

The good news is that Bella is good and will be back home soon and is already up and about ... Incredible ... If we have given her a long life this will all be worth it!!!

If anyone has any tips on crate rest activities etc I'd be really grateful as we also have another hip op after this to get through and I'm worried about how I keep them from getting depressed, I've found a bit on you tube on brain games, any ideas?

    Thx all xx

Lynette, I can't even begin imagine how hard it is not to see your pups but your girls are in the right place getting all the love and care they need to recover, this will also give you a little time to prepare for the months ahead. You will see them soon and they definitely will not have fogotten you :) Your all in my thoughts. xxx :)

Thanks for the update, Lynnette, prayers continuing here. So hard to have to keep away from Beaux but it's for the best. Glad to hear Bella is doing better. One step at a time....how is your 3 yr. old in the midst of this?

Great news about Bella and fingers all crossed for Beaux. They will both be thrilled to see you, even if Beaux has to wait a bit longer. Thinking of you all.

I am full of admiration for you and your husband in giving these two pups a chance of a good life; there will be hard times ahead during the recuperation, but you will get such enormous pleasure when Bella will be a normal dog again and with great hope, so will little Beaux.

So glad bella is doing well and I'm sure beaux will catch up in no time.

It might seem like a long time but you will get bouncy pups back soon probably more bouncy than before because they won't have the pain and if they've got bionic hips who knows what they might be able to do ;)

Keep us posted lots of luck

So very pleased things are going so well for Bella, and all positive vibes to Beaux that she will also be home soon. :) Thank you for the update, everyone is really rooting for you and your girls.

PS I have a new bionic hip, and last night went dancing... Danced for hours, no pain, no problems at all, just wonderful!!! So my guess is, if all goes well with this first stage, your girls are going to be very very happy and pain free. So hang in there!! :)

So pleased that some progress is being made. I have found some of the activities in 'Brain Games for Dogs' by Claire Arrowsmith quite good.
