GAH! I've been working so hard training Bob on the 5 pips using Total Recall. But OH can't do it! He simply can't blow the whistle like that. He picks up the whistle and just does slow long pips! I've told him not to touch the whistle under no uncertain terms until he knows what to do with it. I don't want him ruining all the hard work I've been putting in. Bob is doing so well, he will come from distractions in the garden, food, sleep etc... we are just about to introduce some more distractions... Just a rant really.. OH is just going to have to keep practising! Lou x
Re: OH can't pip the whistle! I don't know what others do but I 'stop' up the whistle with my tongue to create the pips. What is the exact technique he's using?
Re: OH can't pip the whistle! Just get your OH to train a verbal recall...keep your whistle under lock and key - it's too valuable to give to anyone who isn't doing the whole programme like you.
Re: OH can't pip the whistle! We are only whistle conditioning at meal times but my hubby is the same! I was thinking though, I blow it like I was taught to blow a recorder and he wouldn't know that!!
Re: OH can't pip the whistle! Oh the things I could tell you!
I don't know what others do but I 'stop' up the whistle with my tongue to create the pips.
I do the same so they are short and crisp ..Chris USED to blow....note the capitalizing of USED....he is now banned from the whistle...there was a time when Dexter did used to come back to Chris's recall even though it sounded different to mine .....but he started ignoring him so I reclaimed the whistle ;D Now Chris has a low whistle he does himself that Dex responds to and we both used verbal 'Dexter ,Come' and get he same result.....
