On the flip side of this, I had two very sweet girls, aged about 8, ask permission to meet Chewie. I said yes, but I would ask him to sit first. So he sat, and they gave him a pat and then we showed them some of his tricks. That same day I had a mum ask if her toddler could meet Chewie. Again, yes but I will distract him with a treat because small children make him very excited. Both encounters went very well and restored my faith in humanity!

Simon, is your crate right next to your bed? That is the first step.... you can't create security out of insecurity. The dog needs to feel secure by your side, before you can expect them to feel secure, further away....
