I love seeing pictures of Murffi, no other spaniel quite like him, even though Tweed is handsome there's just no contest :)

The yellow one is an Air Kong and the other is a hexabumper. But they are strictly for retrieving. ;D ;)

I am SO pleased I put the title as OMG! OMG! it is turning out to be entirely appropriate....but for different reasons! I cannot believe I actually looked on Champdogs today...spotted a few available...started to look up the pedigrees and health tests....

    Arggghhhh.....doomed, I'm doomed.

There I am, a quite contented owner of a very suitable and appropriate chocolate labrador. I come on a labrador forum and what do I find? Lovely pictures of irresistible spaniels. Training videos of beautifully trained spaniels. Heidrun making it look all SO easy with her amazing spaniels. Clever spaniels winning silver cups...

I think we should vote on Heidrun's culpability in this matter. ;D ;D ;D

    All Heidrun's fault ;)

Julie, you are officially mad if you are thinking of getting a Cocker puppy at the same time as training a young Labrador. ;D

I would love another dog but right now my attention and energies are Obi's. He is still learning how to get on in the world and it's my job to give him the time he deserves so he can be a well behaved member of the family and of society. We may get a pup once Obi is able to be more of a 'wise older brother' and less of a 'partner in crime'. :)

That's wise, Rachael, I won't rush it. The timing will be thought through carefully. But it's good fun thinking about the next pup!

Oh it sure is fun! :D I look at breeder websites and ads for litters every single day. I have my short list of breeders picked already :)

When the time comes you'll be well prepared.

Changing the subject slightly, Julie, do you know that there is a gundog training group meeting every Sunday on Wimbledon common? I'm not sure if they train all through the year or only during spring and summer. Apparently they meet by the Windmill (?).

I didn't know that! But will google and check out the notice boards first thing tomorrow! Gosh, thanks so much, that would really be wonderful. The windmill is where I do my training now, there is a big flat field there. That really would be great. I like my lessons in Hampshire, but I don't joIn the group lessons because I can't face an extra 1.5 hour drive each way per week. If they were local.. Thanks!

    Re: OMG! OMG!

Hehe - good idea ;D We have to wait till Monday to drive it as the manual test-drive car wasn't available till then. But we went and had a look at one this morning anyway to make sure we could easily get Obi into it. The back seat is not exactly comfortable for an adult, but should be just fine for a Labrador!

Julie, I had a thought in the early hours, what about getting a Labrador x Spaniel then you get 2 for the price of 1 and no crazy full on
Spaniel ;D. Remember just how beautiful TMs Charlie is, and I remember you commenting on how would be the next dog for you ;) Karens' Billy was also this mix and both great dogs. Just a thought ;D

Good thinking! Although I fear I've already fallen for a Murffi lookalike - I'll give it a lot more thought before I dive in though!
