Re: OMG STOP THE BARKING! Oh Tami, I am dreadfully sorry this has happened and you feel you can't go on, but I really do understand. I hope this is not yet another example of a rescue centre not doing a thorough assessment of a rescue dog that may now end up in numerous homes. It upsets me so very much :'( Maybe Rumour would be better of homed as an only dog. You don't have to leave the forum, we are all still here to support you. xx
Re: OMG STOP THE BARKING! Poor bewildered dog. Adequate research should be done before rehoming. Good will and crossing your fingers is not good enough when a dog's future is at stake. Apologies to all the diligent rehomers out there.
Re: OMG STOP THE BARKING! All the best Tami. I havent rehomed a dog, only had puppies so cannot criticise those whove tried. I hope rumour finds the best home for her.
Re: OMG STOP THE BARKING! Sorry to hear this but you know what you can handle and what you can't, and it sounds like this was just too much for you at this point. Re homing is not for everyone, it's a big decision best taken with eyes wide open. Hopefully Rumour will get settled in a home that is better suited to all concerned. All the best, Lisa

[/quote] you know tina, your absolutely right and this is something i have to live with. i have never taken in a rescue, the only 'rescue' i've had was a dog i found on my street who stayed with me for 8 years. I never questioned the information that was given to me by the rescue organization, i just took it for what it was. I guess i know better now. I'll never try to justify the outcome, but i will say this, i could also never live with myself if my cat (who is just as dear to me as my dog) had become cornered in the house and the labrador got her. she showed a very high aggression toward my cat, one that i had never witnessed ever with any other dog i have owned and it scared me - what happened this morning even made my husband uncomfortable and he wanted the labrador more than i did. please dont think for one moment we are out enjoying the day and feel glad its over, we are very disappointed and extremely emotional about it. once an animal enters my home, they rarely leave so this decision was beyond difficult, but i had to be adult about it and make it.
Re: OMG STOP THE BARKING! It's a very difficult decision you have had to make. I think the rescue centre should have got more information about the dog. If the dog isn't good with children they should've checked it was fine with other animals. Then they could have warned you there might be a problem with the cats. I know they can only find out so much but if they don't know then there should be an automatic warning that there could be problems. It's a shame for you and the dog but the stress and tension trying to work through the problem wouldn't have been good either. Take care and remember at least you tried not many people do that.
