Hi, well we have actually reached this point in Total Recall after 10 L O N G months of whistle training. David and I have been out to scout for new locations with low distractions and are off in about 30 minutes on a long training line (Charlie not us ;D) I hope we return triumphant! Re: On Location - AT LAST!! Thank you ladies. Charlie was not half bad . We walked around for 5 minutes, Charlie looked quite excited but we did lots of sits, downs/waits, paw, look at me etc. walked in a 30 ft square in a field (as per Pippa's book). We did quite a few sit/wait I walked about 10 ft away turned my back blew the whistle, turned to face him and he came running towards me for chicken. We also got a few spontaenous recalls which I took full advantage of. We moved to different parts of the field within the 30 ft square and continued with the exercise. He even played with a ball for about 10 seconds : The book states turning my back, blowing whistle and running away, but this is a little difficult on a training line with my husband holding the other end, so not too sure about that. We think he did reasonably well for his first ever outing working to the whistle. We will be out every evening whilst we still have daylight practising, practising and practising. Helen x
