My hubby and I have decided to get a pup. We've put our name on a breeders waiting list who is only 30 minutes away. Both parents are health tested clear for eyes and elbow, with low hip scores.

We're both like a pair of kids waiting for Christmas. Pups should be born on the 6th of September. I've read "Happy Puppy" and ordered "Total Recall". It's been 9 year's since we had a pup, so it will probably be a shock to the system.

Cool  We love puppies. This takes me back to my journey, it's so exciting. Have you said if you want a boy or a girl, do you know the colours that might be in the litter? Welcome aboard :)

Oh, so exciting! What Jane said - any idea about what colour/sex you might be getting? Are the parents show type or field type, or a mixture? Any names you've thought of yet? Such an exciting time!!!

We want a male, we have a female Cavalier at home, and have always had one of each sex. It's to be a mixed litter of black and chocolate, I'd love a chocolate boy, but we'll be happy with either, as long as they are healthy. Mum and Dad are both show type, but Mum has been to a few local shoots, most of her dogs have.

We haven't met in person yet, just a long conversation over the phone, my groomer put me in touch with her as one of her boys came from there. I'm happy she's local too, as we have been told we can visit whenever we like. I'm not a patient person, so these next months will drag past :)

I remember waiting for our pup, we were so impatient! Our breeder was a 4 hour drive away so visits were limited, but she sent photos and a video every week on a Wednesday evening. Every Wednesday evening we sat refreshing our emails like a couple of kids waiting for the photos and video!!

Jura is now 16 weeks, and it feels like she has always been here :)

Welcome I'm very excited for you. My girl is 8 months, along with my children she is my world. Whatever colour or sex you choose he/she will be gorgeous and perfect.

Thanks. We're arguing over names, everything I say, he says no, and vice versa :)

Before deciding on a name I always advise that you try it out. Do you feel comfortable calling it out loud in the garden? In a bright, happy voice? A name can feel very different when being used for training and recall than when just saying it out loud :D:D

Believe it or not I haven't chosen the names of any of my dogs! The first four were rescues (Skipper, Boogie, Gavin and Callum) and My son chose Tatze's name. Gypsy and Twiglet are Guide Dog pups so I got no say in their names.

I didn't think I would get used to any of them, but within two weeks I couldn't imagine them having any other name!

    :)

(My own choice would be Pepper - one day maybe!)

Yes, raising a labrador puppy can be a real test of a relationship! We have just about gotten through the adolescent stage.....together! :)
Really looking forward to seeing more puppy photos :)

I've picked out a name for my pups but often change it when I finally bring them home they just seemed like a Doug and midge a midge not a talli and well Rory just was a very silly dog and could only be a Rory.
puppies are lovely I couldn't wait to get my last one.

Yes, I can see there being plenty disagreements over things, but if I'm honest I normally win, because I'm a woman, and always right :D

It's going to be the longest 3 weeks of my life until the puppies are born, and then I'm sure the time will fly in.
