You know those moments when your heart just seems to explode with love for your little monsters? No one thing in particular has happened, but I've really been working on increasing Willow's enthusiasm and enjoyment recently. She can be a bit of a somber little pup, and is nowhere near as cuddly as her brother. She is also a lot more challenging than Shadow when it comes to training and general behaviour. Nothing terrible, just challenging for a novice handler. Well, whatever I've been doing has been working. I have never seen her so full of joy. Her connection with me has come on phenomenally in the last few days; it's just like a switch has been flicked. On our walks, she is just full of beans, but not just with her environment - she is wanting to spend lots of time with me, getting her ears scratched and playing the fool. I've managed to re-teach the hand target with more energy and she LOVES it now, whereas before she was very lacklustre about it. So we use this as a game throughout our walks. She spends the whole time with her tail wagging furiously and the most idiotic grin plastered across her face. Ok, so her extra enthusiasm has her jumping up at me more to nibble my nose, but we can work on that and I love to see her being so overwhelmed with happiness that she can't control herself. Love my pups
I have an image of Fiona and her pups skipping through the green fields of Andorra with Donny Osmond singing in the background... Seriously though, it is wonderful when you make that connection, really, really special
I'm still warm and fuzzy. Off this morning to find some green fields to skip through. Last night, it was very muddy brooks we were enjoying
"The hills are alive........ " Way to go, Fiona. You are working hard with your pups and getting results. Glad it's falling into place.
