Very posh! I think those ingredients are in Monty's joint supplements. I'm in the process of moving Monty from Royal Canin satiety food onto Skinner's rice and duck.RC was fine, but his coat was a bit dull and I was paying £51 a bag. It's a very slowly transition as I still have 15 kilos of RC to use but already his coat is looking more shiny and poos are a 2 not a 2-3. If the veg addition works, will you be happy to add in extra veggies every day? I do it sometimes but only if I'm cooking them anyway, I wouldn't want to have to do it daily (but I'm v v lazy)
Hmm I’m a bit lazy too and my life already is dominated by Pig faff...so I’d rather just try to find a food that didn’t require extras. She’s on a 60-40 ratio now meat to veg kibble so perhaps I will try the 50-50...
Do you add water to the kibble? I have always given a good slosh of water (clearly the 2 seconds it takes to inhale it, it doesn't go soft or soggy). I started doing it because Lilly was awful at not drinking much.
Did you do the which food - food calculator on Millie's Wolfheart website? Ripple is on the Tracker Mix as I wanted to swap him to low fat, but he has had several different varieties since I swapped him to Millie's when he was quite young. He now has one meal raw and one kibble per day but even when he was only on the kibble he never had dry poos. Mind you he does supplement his diet some what with all the extras he finds when he's out . I would certainly second ringing their customer service for advice.
That’s why I feed my dog whole meat and bones that I can see - if I don’t understand the ingredients, then it worries me. In fact, for myself, I try to follow the rule: if the ingredients list has words I don’t understand, I avoid it.
Sorry, MF, but this seems a bit daft. I agree with the premise, sure - almost all of what I eat is home-cooked from fresh ingredients - but surely it makes more sense to investigate what those ingredients are and what their purpose is, rather than to avoid them simply because you don’t understand the word?
Yes we did that and it recommended all the 60-40 foods, so she is on the gamekeepers mix I think. Yes I shall call them up (although can I discuss poo texture with a stranger on the phone?? )
I just spoke with Millie’s and they say that small, dry crumbly poo is most usually a sign of underfeeding! So I will increase the amount and see if it is rectified. Poor Piggy, I hope I have not been starving her
So, just because I am sure you are all on the edge of your seats for an update on the Pig’s poo on her more-meaty kibble, it is still a 1/2 on that delightful poo scale but she seems to be down to one poo a day, whereas she always used to be two a day. How many is normal? Is one ok?
