It has been quite awhile since I have been on the forum, so thought you might like to know how Otis is getting on. He is now 2 and a half years old. I have started taking him to training classes, and he is making progress, but slowly. He dosen't really pull to much on the lead , only at the beginning of the walk, when we are just going out the door. He is still on nutriment frozen raw dog food, and looks great on it, shiny coat, and clean teeth. Today we went to West Wittering Beach, and he had a good old hare around, and play with other dogs, and a dip in the sea. Oh how things have changed since his puppy days, he was so slow to toilet train, and I still have to be careful with that, very very rarely, he forgets himself and will do a little wee indoors, but nothing really to worry about. He is the most lovable dog, freindly soft and cuddly. He has never had a problem with any other dog, he always want s to play with them. Going in the car, has always been fine. Recall, well that could be a lot better, it is not perfect, he sometimes just does his own thing and does it on his terms ! More training needed. We have lovely walks on the south downs, a local woods and the beach. Daily, we go the local park and play ball. Unfortunately the cafe at the park, had a bit of a problem with him when he swiped someones sandwich, and who can blame them, we were threatend with the dog warden, but no report was ever made, so I think we got away with it. There are outside picnic tables, and he always makes a beeline for them to hoover up crumbs, typical labrador behaviour. I tend to either keep him on a lead when the cafe is open, or walk him when it is closed and he can be off lead. So that is Otis !
Good to hear from you, and lovely to hear how Otis is going on. Calling the dog warden because a friendly Lab swiped a sandwich in the park cafe? Ha - good luck with that one!
Great to hear that all is well How nice to read your update. To be honest my recall isn't 100% either so you're not alone there! Don't people know that sandwiches are made for swiping? Good skills, Otis
Hello Maggie, lovely to hear from you and super to hear Otis is doing so well! Love the Witterings, perfect for a great run-around. And made all the better for a labrador by an additional sandwich...
Great news! He's the same age as Tatze what date is his birthday? I find she has quite a mind of her own now but is such a good companion I couldn't imagine life without her. She's a super Big Sister to the guide dog pups too.
Boogie, Otis birthday, is 21 April, 20013. In some ways he is still very much like a pup, he still chews, and is playful. I would not have it any other way, I love him to bits x
Sorry you had so much trouble about the sandwiches we've all been there. I think they were a bit silly, dog wardens are for serious stuff not sandwiches
