    Hi Labrador Friends

Ziva is now 14 weeks been out and about in village good few but last couple weeks she still jumps up, however I think it's human fault rather than Ziva lol what I,v been doing is when people start to some over I say she will jump up can you go down to her level or take your hand away and turn you back so she learns not to jump up as I don't want her speaking to you in 3 months time when she lots bigger and jumps up at you . Now being in a village we kinda know most people or know most faces to say hi to .Today a lady said to me as I,v heard before och it's ok I don't mind her jumping up she just so lovely and want to come say hello other people who have dogs and no its nice having dog jump up go down to her level stroke her on the chest and she does actually sit then gets up n jumps up but they ignore her then once she sits they talk to her but on this occasion its only small number of people who no this is good way.
So what do I do ,how do I get round the people who just swarm in and just want to stroke her :)

    Cheers
    Marie & Ziva

I had this problem as well and I'm still suffering a bit from it, with the pups at 9.5 months. I ended up getting to the end of my tether a bit and basically shouting "PLEASE IGNORE MY DOG!" at people as they approached them when excited. They were obviously a little taken aback but once I halted their approach, I could explain calmly exactly what I was doing and needed them to do. If you explain that they're helping out with your training, that normally puffs up their egos a bit and they're happier to help out.
If people persist with the "I don't mind", I just say, "Well, I do!". I heard one guy telling people behind my back how horrible I was for not letting my puppies be puppies. Ho hum.

It is the hardest part of training so for I know she only been here 6 weeks and out for 3.5 lol but omg people can be so ignorant .
But will give it a go and say there actually helping out with training
so what is best way to do it just don't let people touch her until she calm ??

If she's on the lead, it's easy. Just keep the people out of range until she's exhibiting calmness - wait for a sit (uncued) if you wish. As soon as she's calm, the person can come and say hello, but as soon as she gets excited again, they step back out of range. She'll learn very quickly what is required in order to get to interact with them. Make sure that the person is completely ignoring her when she's excited. No eye-contact or anything, as that can be rewarding to the pup. Learning impulse control is a very big deal in training, so it's an important element to work on in the early stages and will help with all sorts of other things.
It does take time (and a lot of it), but she'll get there as long as you're determined and consistent in your approach.

Sometimes using a lead cover or collar that says TRAINING in big letters can help (a bit like assistance dog leads and jackets)
Training people is FAR more difficult.....

Yes...Ebay or amazon. I can't easily do a link on my phone but I think if you search *training collar lead* it should find them.

I wouldn't worry too much about the accident in the crate, Ziva is still very young and sometimes they aren't happy to go pee anywhere except there normal place and hopefully she will grow out of it as you manage to get out and about with her on the ground walking more. Is there an area in town which is frequented by other dog owners which you could visit with her. If she sees, smells other dogs she may be more inclined to leave her own mark.

After all our restricted exercise and lack of getting out Juno wasn't doing a pee when we went out but waiting until we got back into the garden and she has only recently started to pee outside on walks again.

It worked :) :) :) well 6 out of 8 people cause the 2 people just totally ignored my wishes at one point I was about to pull her away but she wouldn't come anyway. It was people I no so just explained that I don't want her jumping up as she getting bigger and It wouldn't be nice if I met them on a wet day in few months time ,also explained that had they allowed her to settle before breeching in to speak to her I would of let them speak all the time but they just dirty there own ticket and would prefer if they didn't come speak unless I say its ok :) :) was blooming annoyed but just as well I know them,Conversation started so just said I'd like it if they help us with her training and If they dont look down at her or touch her until all 4 paws are on he floor she normally go into a sit then I'm more than happy for them to go down to her and speak if she jumps up remove hand and eye contact and do not speak till all 4 paws are on floor again :) much appreciated and you'r helping with her training that way so that be good . And said persons were more than happy and said sorry I'd didn't think we were doing any harm but now you'v explained I get it :) :) :) ( result )

On the good side when I did ask people not to speak until all 4 paws were on floor and we were in training learning her not to jump up and the'd be helping with that they did exactly as I asked and she got hang of it as last person we spoke to she didn't even try to jump up so roll on Monday as can't get into village over weekend .

Thank you will let you no on Monday how wee get on

    Cheers
