Re: Owls
Er...I'm sure he'll end up just lovely. ;D
;D
Re: Owls Aw he has a face only an incubator could love! But will be stunning when he grows up... he's only about 10cm high but he'll grow very quickly and double in height over the next few days! we don't actually know that he is a he. Apparently the only way to know for sure is get them DNA tested so the breeders say they don't bother. So because we really like the name Casper and were struggling for a girl's name we've decided it's a boy! We're not going to breed so we won't ever know really. The other way that you can tell is when they're adults put two in a cage and either they'll fight (same gender) or they'll er act like they're on honeymoon...
Re: Owls That's an OWL??? Are you sure? Looks like a vulture crossed with a small dinosaur!!! But yes, I am sure he/she will be fabulous.
Re: Owls Less than a week until owl day and the supplies are arriving... travel box - check cat litter made of wood (!) - check play pen (clear plastic tank he can see out of and be safe) - check bow perch - check loads of bits of leather stuff that I'm too lazy to list separately - check extra glove for Carole - check (eek!) and it goes on... apparently like puppies he'll need "socialising" so he'll go everywhere where we want him to be comfortable when working - schools, the office, the garden, the forest, the car. he also needs to get used to the dogs - that bit is going to be interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Owls Really looking forward to hearing about this Carole, hope you are going to bring us daily updates and photos!
Re: Owls I will certainly try Pippa - there's so much going on here it's a bit mad taking on an owl! If you know anyone who works or has kids in local schools beds/herts/bucks/cams then please tell them we're offering school visits with an educational talk - very reasonable prices - limited opporunity as they grow really quickly. By the end of the Summer holidays he'll be nearly adult ;D
Re: Owls Aw bless. I'll mention it to our school. We are in Milton Keynes so probably not too far away from yourselves.
Re: Owls thanks Nicola Milton Keynes is only 15 miles so no problem for a man with a van and an owl ;D
Re: Owls Carole, you will be pleased to learn of this new policy commitment from the British Labour Party:
Re: Owls today isn't Capser day after all The breeder rang this morning (at 7.30am I guess she was up with the owls which is earlier than a lark...although not as early as the farmer who started the mole plough outside our bedroom window at 5.30am!!! ) he's a bit wobbly. They all go through a wobbly phase where they are trying to walk and they fall over a lot. however he is wobbling and falling but not going forwards while he's wobbling so she wants to make sure he's ok before releasing him to us. Very conscientious breeder! ;D ;D
