Thought I'd share a couple of photos of my old family dog Patch. We rescued him when he was about 18m old. We have no idea where he came from before that! I think he was a Labrador cross collie, do you think that's right? I was about 13/14 when we got him in '98/'99 and he lived until 2011 not long after my son was born. So he has a good long life with us. He was a cracking dog, and crackers at times! When we first got him he used to drag me like crazy when I used to walk him. I had to run to keep up with him, but he did calm down. One time, not long after we got him, the silly dog jumped out of an upstairs window (my daft brother shouted 'Cats!') to tease him, but who knew he would jump out of a window. Luckily he wasn't injured, just went on a long run until we caught up with him! He used to love his toys, particularly squeaky ones, and he used to squeak them until the squeak had gone. He loved opening up his Christmas presents and finding a new toy inside. He was a very clever and soppy dog.
I love his coat colours! He sounds like a much loved dog who was very lucky to be rescued by a caring family.
My first dog was very much like Patch and she was a Collie/Springer spaniel. Mine never calmed down ever and she died aged 14 and a half. They are certainly entertaining dogs and it took me 6 years to finally get over the grief of losing her. It looks as if Patch was also deeply loved, they are very special dogs with great character.
