Hi pchrisman, and welcome to the forum. Might be a good idea to contact your local dog warden, they then can take care of the dogs, check them for a microchip and have then quickly reunited with their owners, presuming they are lost or even stolen, which unfortunately does happen.
Are you looking after them both now?

    Hello there

And a very warm welcome to the forum.

We have members from all over the world on the forum, and I'm afraid it is very unlikely that you will find the owners of the dogs you have without giving more information.

But also, I am not at all sure that it is the best way to find the owners of the dogs - you would really need to establish proof of ownership etc before handing any dog over to someone who contacts you via the internet to claim the dogs.

I suggest you might want to try contacting a reputable rescue organisation, one of the main dogs lost sites, or your local dog warden for advice and assistance in finding the owners of the dogs.

    Best wishes

Do they have tattoos in their ears or on their bellies? You can track tattoo numbers. Would you feel comfortable taking them in your car to a Vet or rescue to be scanned for a microchip? I have taken found dogs (no collar, tattoo or chip) for a walk around my village, hoping they were local and someone would recognize them. I confess that never worked but it might work for you. Thank you for trying to help them, many wouldn't.

Yes I am a dog lover and I live on a highway I am treating them like they were mine. Feeding them they were starving and they were very dehyrated. I gave them plenty of water they seem to be healthy enough to eat and drink with out taking them to a vet for an I .V.

I am very worried about that because if they don't find an owner soon they won't keep them very long before they just destroy them but you may be correct while I'm thinking about what to do they are in very good hands. Thank you.

these dogs are very special dogs I can not believe someone would just up and leave them so I will maybe try a lost and found website I live in Utah. Rest assured I will treat them very well. I mean they are clean and very well groomed I believe the female could use a little weight.

I want to thank everyone for there help and concerns I had to spend about 15 minutes alone with the 2 beutifull Black Labs they jumped up on my bed one on each side of me just liking me and being so happy If no one was going to claim them I was just going to keep them. I made one man very happy today he came to my house and the dogs were his. I am sad yes I fell in love with them at first site. But they were his and I know how he feels like I said I live on a highway if I would not have taken them in well they most likely would have got hit and killed but they are safe a sound and there owner was very greatfull and I am just lucky that they picked my porch to sit on at 1:00 A.M. so I could let them in thank you all I love a good ending.

You are a good and kind man. I bet the man was over the moon to find his dogs again. Well done to you.

That's wonderful that you helped them to be reunited with their owner.

I hope you get your own dog one day. Is there any chance you could build a fence to keep a dog off the highway and safe in your yard?

I Have a fully trex fenced backyard to keep them off the highway the reason I lost Dott is because someone left the gate open. And these two labs were young and had not been trained not to dig and trust me a black lab can dig a hole very fast thats why I kept such a close eye on them. They were beutiful and I was not going to leave anything to chance. Like I said earlier I treated them like they were my kids not dogs they were special you could see it in there eyes and when the kid that came to get them told them to get in the car they ran up to my wife and I on the pourch. I guess it was the owners brother because about 15 minutes later a car pulled in my driveway it was the owner of the dogs came back to my house to say thanks. I am very happy for him.

That's great news for the dogs & their owner that they are re-united. You have been very kind to give then such care. Not everyone would have even tried (though I'm certain all on this forum would!).

It doesn't sound like they live too far away so maybe you will be able to keep in touch.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas, you have already shown generosity of spirit.
