We are going on day three with Watson, things are going well, other than the crocodile teeth that all the reading in the months before did not properly prepare me for. A question about toileting though. Both times I took him in my youngest daughters room, he promptly went to the bathroom, he had just been outside before hand so it seemed very odd.

I take it you mean for a wee ! if so, it could be excitement , pups ( and even older juveniles ) sometimes wee when over excited . Make sure you clean up using a deodorant type spray ( Pets at Home sell ) as even when you clean thoroughly , the place will have the scent that Watson will detect and want to use the same spot !

I'd probably just restrict him to easily cleaned parts of the house to start with, slowly extending his range once you're confident he'll be able to hold himself.

I think each of our rooms were christened with wee, systematically, as a new room was added to Lilly's repertoire......

He actually did one of each -pee and poo -but maybe it is just excitement. That had not occurred to me. My last dog was in the era of dominance type behavior and so that was sadly where my mind went -more that he saw her as a sibling and maybe he was marking his territory or something -if you can sort of follow my sleep deprived mind? Him being excited with all the toys, and fun in her room and her high energy level makes a lot of sense though. Glad I asked.
