Haha - I have exactly the same thing when I'm sweeping the kitchen. Ziggy has to go behind the child gate otherwise the broom is attacked! This morning however, I tried to get him to leave the broom alone and sit with me while I swept the kitchen. He was really, really good. I kept saying 'leave it' and he actually did leave it. I managed to get the whole kitchen, and the sunroom, swept without him attacking the broom! What a clever boy! Then, when I went to fetch the dustpan and brush, he scattered my tidy pile all over the kitchen floor again! One step forward . . .
