Hi Helen, yea he is ok. I picked him up at half 3 and he was so 'drunk' swaying about everywhere and he's been asleep but now he is pacing about and whining loads. He's had his tea. I have put a pair of boxers on him so that he doesn't have to have his cone on when I'm around but he isn't too happy about it! I cried my eyes out when I left him this morning! The only other thing is that he's got an ear infection in one ear so I feel bad that not only has he been done but also that he's got a sore ear!

Oh no poor Murphy, did the vet give him antibiotics for his ear? :( I bet you cried, it's just awful having to leave them behind in a strange place. I hope Murphy will recover quickly and I bet he looks really cute in his boxers, what a great idea :). Keep us upto date on how he is. Take care and try not to worry too much xx

Glad to hear that the ops went well for Penny and Murphy. It's horrible when they are feeling sorry for themselves - hope you both have a good night and happier dogs tomorrow.

Oh Frankie i forgot murphy was getting done today as well! Hope it went well. It's a shame about the ear infection but at least he's got treatment for it. It must not have been bad if you hadn't noticed yourself so hopefully it will clear up quickly. I love the boxers!! He looks very unimpressed by it though!

Penny doesn't really know what to do with herself. She was quite awake when I picked her up and she's just been wandering around since we got home. I think she wants to go for a walk! She's got a plastic cone she's supposed to wear but to be honest she hasn't even sniffed at her wound so I'm not sure about putting it on her. Shes not wearing it whilst I'm supervising her and I don't know what to do about overnight - she won't fit in her crate with it on so she'll have to spend the night in the kitchen if I decide to put it on her.
Here she is trying it on for size:

A rare moment she had a lie down for ten minutes! I made her a nice comfy bed but she's barely even looked at it!

Oh and I cried when I was driving away too! Just didn't want to admit it in case you all thought I was weird!

Good to hear Penny and Murphy are over the worst; I expect by this time tomorrow you will be struggling to keep them calm. Hope you have a peaceful night.

Lol I knew I would cry! It's horrible leaving them. I had suspected he may have had an ear infection and have been cleaning his ears but wasn't sure so they said they would have a good look when he was under and it's a infected but only where visible and not deep in his ear luckily :)

Ah Frankie,of course Murphy was going in too, sorry I forgot to wish you the best but sounds like everything went ok and he's got something for his ears,if he's a bit below it might be easier for you to get the drops in .....bless him in his boxers and little dinky dot Penny with her big cone on ,bless her.
Glad everybody is home and on the mend, never feel silly about crying ,can't tell you the times I've been in tears over my own dog and I cry everyday over a Facebook happy/ sad animal story ::) I'm truly hopeless!
    Hope,your nights were ok,drop us an update when you can....on Penny Lauren,not Greys Anatomy ;D ;D ;D

    Re: Penny's getting speyed!!!!

First night was good, see my other thread 'phasing out the crate' for more info, but she kept her cone on all night with no issues! She doesn't like it, I can tell, but doesn't paw at it or smash it around everywhere so I'm quite pleased really. She won't be wearing it when either one of us is home with her as I don't think she needs it - as I said above she's barely even sniffed at her wounds.

She has three tiny incisions on her abdomen, rather than one long one (on a dog her size it'd probably have been about 3-4inches). I was hoping to get a photo to post for all of you who are interested but she's far too lively. No one would know she's had major surgery  ???
