Health testing and temperament of parents are massively important. I would not consider getting a pup from parents without full health testing and good hip scores and zero elbows. You may not get to meet Dad, but do make sure that Mum is a nice temperament. Beyond that, choosing a puppy from a litter can be pot luck, but take on board the one the breeder suggests for you as they will know the pups personalities best.
