I have a 1 1/2 year old field line red lab that I’ve been struggling to train to heel. He’s had puppy classes, 1 to 1 classes, I’ve tried turning round when he pulls and I’ve tried stopping. He will turn direction for me when I do and when I stop he will turn around and stand by my side. He just goes right to the end of the lead and I feel the tension. I’ve used all sorts of harnesses but he’s even worse, only thing that he will walk better on is a figure of 8 lead so I’ve been using that. I treat him when his lead is slack but all he does is take the treat and bolt off at the end of his lead. He’s very highly strung. I feel at a total loss at what to do, I feel so disheartened because he’s great in the home just not outside.
