The trade in underage puppies I know that some of you are already aware of this, but others may find this very upsetting. There is sadly a thriving trade in the sale of three and four week old puppies in some parts of the world. Particularly in India, where Labradors are becoming very popular I receive questions about caring for tiny puppies almost every day either in my email inbox or on the main website. There must be hundreds of comments about these poor little mites on the site. It is absolutely heartbreaking reading them all. Many will clearly not survive. My policy I have a policy for dealing with these comments/enquiries which you can read here. http://www.thelabradorsite.com/too-young-to-leave-mum/ But essentially, I have decided that providing a respectable/reliable source of online information for people to refer to in raising 20 day old puppies at home, is simply condoning this objectionable practice. So I have made it quite clear on the main site, that the Labrador Site does not condone the sale of puppies at three or four weeks old, and will not provide information that however well intended, may encourage more people to bring these tiny pups home. This was a very difficult decision for me. I hope you will be able to understand how I came to it. Addition to the forum rules I am going to place a small addition in the forum rules to include this policy, as I do not want any part of encouraging this appalling trade in the sale of underage puppies. I am also going to remove the relevant posts placed on the site today. I should add, that I am very sorry to hear of anyone that has been duped by these traders, and that the most important thing they can do, is go straight to their nearest veterinarian for advice. And I very much hope that they will also spread the word to everyone around that selling puppies at three or four weeks old is nothing more than abuse.
