    Pedigree Identification

It is very common for puppy owners in India and Pakistan to ask me to confirm that their Labrador is a pedigree dog.

I get several requests of this nature each month.

There are a couple of issues here.

One is that authenticating a pedigree simply cannot be done by looking at a photograph.

The other, more serious concern, is the safety and welfare of a dog whose pedigree is called into question. Possibly quite inadvertently by a forum member unaware that there may be implications for the dog.

I have decided therefore, to make a small addition to the forum rules as follows

Please do not place posts up asking forum members to confirm whether or not your Labrador is purebred. This is against the forum rules.

Unusual for us to add to forum rules at all, let alone twice in one evening - hopefully we won't need to do this again for a while :)

    Thanks everyone, for reading
