Am starting to work through Total Recall, Digby is fairly reliable with recall but only when I call him, he completely ignores my husband because he has not been trained to respond to him. As time will not allow my husband to do the same amount of training as me, have decided to retrain recall using the whistle which he will then hopefully obey whoever uses it.

Well, am trying to do exercise 3 - moving dinners. Poor Digby, I have taught him to sit and wait for his dinner until released, beforehand he was sending my children flying when they tried to feed him - it would seem I've managed it very effectively. He will not follow me at all unless I release him which just confuses the whole issue.
I could probably lure him with treats so may have to do double helpings of exercise 4 - 'moving treats' to compensate.
