Re: Poor little soul Glad little Miss Millie is less itchy... Thank goodness for the wonders of modern medicine, say I!!
Re: Poor little soul Me too Karen , so far, no side effects apart from maybe being a little more tired, but then again this could be because its very warm at the moment . I think we all like to avoid medicating if at all possible but on the other hand, no caring owner wants to see their dog in need
Re: Poor little soul So glad you have found something that works and helps her Kate,it's distressing seeing them poorly and bothered x
Re: Poor little soul Thanks Angela , the scratching is much improved, hardly any and her fur is growing back nicely . The only downside is that she is weeing more , she usually wont get out of her basket until about 8.30 in the morning but she woke me at 5 this morning, desperate for a wee, poor soul
Re: Poor little soul That's great about the itching Hopefully the weeing will lessen when you move to the lower dose rate. We had a couple of accidents inside during the daily dose period...
Re: Poor little soul Glad the itching has stopped. Hopefully her little body will adjust and the weeing will settle down soon.
Re: Poor little soul Yesterday, we started on the week of having a prednisolone every other day , so far so good re the scratching, but she is subdued and quiet . The wee issues are still present and I have noticed that she is making burn marks on the lawn where she didnt do before , not that this matters at all, grass will grow back . Just hoping that as we are now on the reduction stage, she will slowly begin to return to normal , she is still a happy little soul and if the itching stops , the lawn is a small price to pay
Re: Poor little soul Glad she is still itch free. Can't add any help to the wee issues. We never noticed any difference with our dog on the tabs.
Re: Poor little soul Glad Millie is improving. Poor little thing, must be uncomfortable. Sending her hugs from me and lots of licks and waggy tails from megs.
Re: Poor little soul Poor Millie I hope she is a little better Kate. I have been reading about Salmon Oil and one of the benefits is soothing itchy skin, have you tried Kate it might be worth a try? xx
Re: Poor little soul No I havent tried it Helen, but might well do when this course of steroids is finished, thank you x
Re: Poor little soul I'm cross quoting from the Dull black coat thread http://www.thelabradorforum.com/index.php?topic=6601.msg88947#msg88947 Where Rachael mentions that salmon oils helped the effectiveness of Obis antihistamines so it might be something that would help x
Re: Poor little soul In the capsule form, that's right Lochan has also mentioned that fish oil/fatty acids can increase the effectiveness of antihistamines.
Re: Poor little soul Gosh wish I'd brought some with me ,I'm getting eaten alive ( as usual) by mosquitoes.....I'm taking an antihistamine......in he absence of fish oil capsules I'm wondering if the wine and cosmopolitans I'm glugging might make my blood a little less appealing!x
Re: Poor little soul thanks Jacqui,I had a good go on that last night ;D I know it is said to work but it was the night I've been bitten the worst....but I think that was as much to do with realising we hadn't plugged in electrical repeller!not to worry, the antihistamines are definately helping....I took one on the plane on the way this time ,usually I wait too late to start....eeeeee if that's all I have to moan about I really should stop now ,it's so lovely here x
Re: Poor little soul Happy to report that Millie is still in her basket, hasnt been out for a wee yet and didnt ask to go out in the night, so pleased
