Sorry just realised I didn't reply to you @Beanwood its her elbows. Bilaterally lame with the right being very badly effected. This is why I love this picture it is hard to tell now. There isn't an awful lot of limping at the moment only when she first wakes. I wonder if that will ever really stop I fear not but she only does it for seconds now not minutes
Oh lovely Mabel, I really hope that this is the last month of restricted exercise forever. Not long now!
So sorry to hear about Mabel she is still so young so I hope she will all be ok Denzel had this operation which we opted for stem cell injections as well to aid bone growth in May and after a long slow recovery he goes back in this Tueaday for his post op check and also his pre on his right leg we are hoping his right leg has not detoriated like his left. Fingers crossed. The great thing to see in the last 4 weeks after very strick rehab it was great to se his personality reappear. Good luck with Mabel and have Plenty of cake and wine . We will be thinking of you both.
@Denzeldog I often think of you and hope all is going well. It certainly is a long slow recovery, I'm wondering why Mabel wasn't offered stem cell injections, Ill ask at the end of the month when she has her check up. Could be that Denzel is a bit older than Mabel, off the top of my head I think he maybe four . It's great his personality is returning that is one of the best signs that things are improving. You are doing a fabulous job with Denzel. I met a guy this morning whose vets bills had totalled £18,000 as the poor dog had caught meningitis and had both cruciate ligaments done, she was a beautiful girl and recovering well although there was a real sadness in her eyes. I keep my fingers crossed she improves. Keeping everything crossed for Tuesday and sending big hugs
@drjs@5 I have good news to report so hopefully your heart will not be in your mouth. Yesterday Mabel had a follow up appointment and X-rays at The Willows. I'm absolutely delighted to say she is doing really well. X-rays show the plate and pins are still in the correct position and the bone has almost healed. She is now out of the recovery period and is allowed to have part of her walk off lead and play with other dogs. The next check up will be at the end of February and during the coming months I'm to build her exercise up gradually. I'm going to continue with a combination of secluded and social walks. I took her to our local woods today and she played with three dogs, she looked so happy. She is a little bit stiff tonight but the specialist has said I'm not to worry, as the bouts of stiffness pass quickly and she is now more balanced on four limbs, it's all part of her recovery process. I feel this little chapter in her life is all but closed and we can move forward to a happier future
So lovely to read this ,happy she's getting to meet friends and happy, for you to see her enjoying herself x
I'll try, I'm planning on mostly country walks where we see literally no one. Winter is approaching which is a bonus. I'll be working on recall against the pesky furry critters, know as cats, squirrels, and rabbits. Like Betsy she has become a real chaser
