So a couple of years ago, my two Birman cats were attacked by two stray Alsatians. One if them was killed.

We were devastated and actually moved house because of it.

Then we moved to the countryside to get away from those kinds of people.

A few weeks after moving in, the farmer was t my door with the other cat in his arms, covered in blood. His two Jack Russells had attacked him. He survived but was very lucky.

That was around Christmas time. Now, this evening, whilst out with Monty, he was set upon by three Alsatians! I saw them about 100m away thundering down the track towards us. Ears up in attack mode.

Monty hadn't seen them so I did sit whistle and calmly started to put his lead on. However before I could they were on us and bowled him over and set upon him. One had him in his mouth like a rabbit at one point.

I managed somehow in the chaos to get them off him. I'm not sure how and why they didn't start in me. A woman appeared and managed to get them away. She wasn't the owner.

Monts had pood himself and was pretty disheveled. His tail was between his legs but I didn't want to make a big deal of it(!!!) so called him to heel and walked him 5mins back. He was limping slightly.

When I got back I checked him over thoroughly and couldn't find any sore spots, blood or injuries. His tail was wagging. But about 20mins later I noticed blood and a couple of puncture marks.

We're just back from the emergency vet and he's had two puncture wounds cleaned, antibiotics, anti inflammatory and painkillers. Poor little fella.

It's just starting to sink in and I'm really shaken up. Will be on to the police tomorrow.

Me and my animals seem to be so unlucky :(

So sorry to hear of your's and Monty's dreadful experience. Both of you must be very shaken by the attack, and luckily no serious wounds have been inflicted. Hoping Monty makes a speedy recovery from both his wounds and the ordeal. A visit to the police first thing tomorrow but I expect there's not much they can do unless the dogs are caught in the act. I think I would also invest in a stout walking stick for added protection.

That is just dreadful, what a horribly frightening experience. I'm so sorry. I'd bet you'd like to have a few choice words with the owner.

I hope the dogs are known to the police and they can act on this incident.

If you know some friendly dogs who Monty likes then I'd soon make an arrangement to go and see them, so he has a positive experience. I hope he is ok. Poor little man.

Funnily enough, pretty much as soon as we got back, I was talking to my neighbour who knows the Alsatians owners (not nice people) and Monty decided to go into their house and torment their old American Spaniel. He seemed absolutely fine. It was only after that that we noticed the blood and puncture marks.

Gosh how awful and terrifying! So glad he is ok. Here in the US, there is this dog repellant spray called HALT (link below). I haven't ever used it but I did purchase a can and think I will start carrying it. Hopefully it would never be needed but I certainly would use it if a dog was approaching us in attack mode. So sorry this happened and hope Monty has no lasting effects from it. Poor boy.

Oh my gosh, poor Monts and poor you. I have no advice, but I'd be super nervous about going out knowing the dogs were potentially around. :(

Poor boy. Hope he's ok and not too shaken? Hope you had a stiff drink too!
I had this happen about a year ago - it is awful and really shook both of us up. I didn't go back to that location for a long time as it happened twice in the same place on different occasions.
My only advice is to carry a spray repellent or a walking stick.
I hope the police manage to do something!

And the answer to the question about how much longer he will be on your bed for is 'forever after' ;)

Well he seems absolutely fine today amazingly enough! His wounds are still a bit bloody and weeping, but I guess that'll take time.

He seems fine in himself and doesn't even appear to be stiff and certainly not sore.

I took him to the in-laws earlier since they have a Golden Retriever Monty adores and loves to torment. I was keen to see how he'd react with another dog after the attack. He was completely fine, tail wagging and his usual annoying self! (Sorry Rosie!)

Fingers crossed he's just taken it all in his stride. I think I'm more traumatised by it all than he is! I can't believe how lucky he was.

Also, the dogs' owner called me and was really apologetic. She has offered to pay for the vet bills.

I should jolly well think so.
Did she offer any assurance that she was going to put in measures to stop it happening again?

    What did the police say?

I'm glad Monty seems to be fine in himself and with familiar dogs. Do you know any friendly GSDs you can arrange for him to meet?

Goodness what a shock! After having Simba be attacked today I completely sympathize with your feelings, it really is quite traumatizing. He is lucky to escape after having the three of them set upon him, so glad he seems to be okay albeit a little worse for wear. Good to hear at least the owners called you back, I would definitely pursue the question of what they are doing to make sure it won't happen again.

Oh ,no this is just terrible to read.I'm so glad he wasn't more seriously injured.Don't be set off your course of reporting this to the police by the neighbour contacting you.Whilst an apology is appreciated ,there is a serious safety risk running about your neighbourhood and the authorities need to know x
