After reading something on here i gave Izzy an empty pop bottle to play with this morning. Half an hour on and shes still playing! Obviousely im keeping an eye on her and i wouldnt leave her alone with it, but its better than my arm!
Re: Pop bottle! One word of warning - if they love them too much they end up scavenging for them on every walk. This might be a better alternative - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Water-Bottle-Crunchers-Dog-Toy/dp/B001B4SG2I/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1420447969&sr=8-8&keywords=fat+cat+bottle
Re: Pop bottle! I put a crunchy water bottle in an old sock for them to play with. You can put some stones in it, too, to make it rattle for them. This hasn't encouraged them to steal our other socks - this is their toy, my socks aren't. They get it
Re: Pop bottle! Water bottles for pups seem like a great idea. They love 'em. Throw them up in the air, love the noise, sink their teeth into them and they are free. Nope. You will spend months trying to dissuade them from pouncing on EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY bottle you see on your walks.
Re: Pop bottle! I never see water bottles on my walks! The pups loved playing with them and I called them 'crockle bottles". He will now go into hedges and retrieve discarded beer cans for me ;D
Re: Pop bottle! Molly loves them too and I can't see the problem with collecting them on walks, after all she can only carry one at a time. She brings them home and puts them in the recycling box - another womble!
Re: Pop bottle! If it diverts her attention Wendy and works for you and her I don't see it causing harm just be mindful what others have said, I would much rather Bella retrieved plastic bottles than dead animals on walks though!!!
Re: Pop bottle! Meg loved these as a pup. No end of distraction . She is nearly 1 now and not bothered anymore and has never collected one on a walk. I think they saved us many crocolab moments. Big milk ones were a favourite
Re: Pop bottle! Milly loves them too. I also put mine in a sock and she hasn't started stealing socks so all good. She will steal empty bottles though if they are left around. Doesn't really bother me though. No harm in it.
Re: Pop bottle! 4 pint plastic milk cartons are Amber's favourite as they come with a ready made carry handle. !
Re: Pop bottle! Maisie loved these a a tiny pup and as she got older I used to put kibble in the bottle to make it more exciting!! At 10 months she's not really interested in them now!
Re: Pop bottle! Lilly likes bottles. Particularly Scott's banana milkshake bottles : She doesn't collect them on walks, but does play with any blowing in the wind on the beach. Trouble I see is, that she likes them with the lids on, and first job is to chew it off. No problem with Lilly as she doesn't swallow them BUT......
Re: Pop bottle! Charlie didn't get to play with empty bottles as a pup but is completely obsessed with them. I train on a rugby pitch some days (I make a small donation to the club, and try to be a good guest). The day after a game, before we start training, we sweep the field and Charlie picks up all the empty Lucazade sports bottles and gives them to me to put in a bin bag! ;D ;D ;D Who says choccies can't work as picking up dogs! ;D ;D ;D
Re: Pop bottle!
The club should be paying you ;D
Absolutely! I know what its like after a footy game!
Re: Pop bottle! Harley has always had empty plastic bottles since we got her. We have put kibble in which kept her occupied for ages she has never picked up any bottles on a walk though : Even at 17 months she loves them
Re: Pop bottle! Yep at 14 months Milly still loves them and yes even better with the lid on. Milly chews them off but never eats them. I take them all off when I find them though so it only hapens occasionally. The milk cartons are Millys fav too as mentioned above built in handles make them so great to carry
