Could Chepi still be getting over the operation, almost a month ago or will her energy levels be permanently effected? I don't think she is back to normal after the operation. She's just about 5% under par, I think she can't run around on her walks quite as much but maybe I am imagining it. Could she still be recovering?

I don't know enough to say Jane....it's a big op though and she's been on restricted excercise...maybe she's just lost a bit of fitness while she has had her downtime? X

    Re: Post spay energy

My Gypsy was up to full energy the very next day and very hard to keep quiet.

Tatze took a month or two to be back up to full speed, 'tho she was older when spayed (Gypsy was 6 months old and Tatze was 12 months)

I think it's probably the case that they are all different.

(When I had my spay I was 6 months in recovery :) )

Her energy levels shouldn't be directly affected by the spay Jane , more likely that she just needs a little more time to fully recover and get back to tip top fitness . After Millies spay and her eye operation , I noticed that she seemed to tire more quickly , we just built up her fitness levels slowly , walked a little further every week , at least you ( hopefully ) have nicer weather coming up to encourage her to go the extra mile :)

Thanks everyone. I will just go easy with her and try not to worry.
Katieincornwall do you think there will be constrictions on taking dogs on beaches in Cornwall over Easter?

Some beaches are dog friendly all year Jane, other are restricted from April until October , best thing is to visit the website for Cornwall Council , there is a link on there telling you which you can take dogs on , you can always from me a message telling me where you were thinking of visiting and I`d be happy to find out for you :)

Thanks very much :). I will check the website - probably beaches around Hayle, St. Erth, Carbis Bay, not StIves ( too busy) and maybe near Penzance. I'll check on line :)

Harley took a few months before she was back to full fitness after her spay. She had a very long season then was on restricted exercise as had to have emergency op (spay) as had pyometra and had a twisted hernia.
I also think harley calmed down after her spay - I put it down to her getting older and maturing??
