Not for my sweet baby but a friends 14 week old German Shorthaired Pointer. He was stomped by a moose yesterday afternoon We had them out for a walk on some trails and this female moose literally came out of no where. We grabbed Titan first, as we was closest to us. Tino was a little ways behind us and the moose was between his momma and him. We tried to get Tino to stay where he was, and let this moose continue on her way but he's only a baby and when he heard moms voice he came running. Unfortunately the moose got his back end under her feet. After she had gone, we got to Tino and he was unable to move his back legs or his back end at all. Rushed him to the vet, but there isn't much they can do unless my friend and her husband can spend 8-10 thousand dollars and travel to another city, which is just not realistic at this time in their lives. They brought him home, and the vet said if there is no improvement in 3 days, he will have to be put to sleep. The swelling around his spine is too great to see if the damage is permanent or something that will heal. He does have some breaks that they said should heal really well, so here's to hoping for a good outcome for all of his injuries. Please if you pray, pray for Tino, xoxo.
Oh, that's awful, poor pup. There must be some way of getting him the medical care he needs? I mean, if it was a child, they'd do it... not to want to sound judgemental, but is there no charity or shelter who would help out? JustGiving and a social media plea? Credit cards? There must be something? Three days for a puppy in that much pain is just unthinkable
Some of their friends are trying to set something up to help them out... He isn't in any pain at the moment. They're managing that really well. If he was in a ton of pain, I think they'd just make the decision to have him put to sleep so he wasn't in misery.
What a terrible thing to happen to such a little puppy. I will be thinking about Tino and his family and hoping for good news. xxx
Absolutely tragic, poor litte pup, dreadful accident. Friend of mine had a dog that needed a very expensive op, sent to a referral hospital, she was not insured and hospital gave her a £750 reduction, do you think her vets might consider reducing the cost or letting them pay by instalments?
They would have to travel about 5 hours from here to even have him treated. And it would be an on going thing, as they don't even know how much damage there is at this point. And the cost starts at 8-10 thousand dollars, they aren't even sure what it would be in total once they were done. They wish they could make it work more than anything... but it doesn't look like they can. Right now they are keeping him comfortable and hoping for a miracle
Oh my goodness, that is awful! What a shock for you all. I'm so so sorry you had to witness this. Thinking of you all and please keep us updated. Xx
