Hello all. We took our bitch to a breeder and she had 4 confirmed ties. She is 51 days today from first tie. We took her at 4 weeks for an ultrasound to see if she was in fact pregnant. Vet said that he can confirm pregnancy but not give accurate count, although he did see 4 hearts beating but said there could be more. He recommended that we return her for xray to count. This is her first litter and my first time breeding. She is set to have an xray tomorrow to give us a count. I'm doing this so that I can feel a little more prepared going into the labor process. I've read so many stories on dogs having a last pup randomly outside after owners think labor is over. Is 52 days enough time for a xray count? TIA

Dogs are generally pregnant for 63 days after ovulation. Did you do progesterone testing? If she had 4 ties over 4 days and she ovulated on the 4th day, she may only be 54 days pregnant (your post was two days ago) today so 48 days when you wrote the post, which would be too early. Anyhow, assuming you had the xray yesterday, how did it go?
