Pippa, does the proofing with people have to be with unfamiliar people or can it be my husband, 18 year old daughter, sons 15 and 13 etc.? It's a little difficult to find available people as most are back at work now or it will take some arranging to get friends over to suit us both and I am worried about cracking on as the one man garden recall is done really and he last had this training on Boxing Day. Thanks Helen

    Hi Helen,

Your final objective is to be able to call him away from strangers in public places, and if he is not particularly attracted to people, then he won't find this too difficult. But.. Many Labradors are highly 'people friendly' and this is a big deal for them.

So by all means start with family members, but if Charlie really likes to meet new people, you are going to have to practice with people that he finds novel and exciting at some point... sorry!

    Pippa

Pippa, thanks for that, I will have to try and sort out some sort of schedule with willing friends. This is the one thing Charlie is good at and that's being called verbally from people and dogs, so hopefully this will be easy for him. I wasn't trying to skip any training honestly!!! :) Helen
