Hi, I've never used a forum before, but hope someone can help please. Having ignored the new puppy for a month my 7yr old bitch went into protective mode today and attacked a friend's dog for coming too close. There was a bit of a scrap, though not too serious. I don't want this to happen again either with that dog or any others. Anyone advice / guidance would be much appreciated.Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)
Sorry to hear about the altercation this morning :( they are never nice
Can I ask where this took place? At home/garden/park etc
Were there any warning signs from either dog?

    Hello there JudeC
    Welcome to the forum.
I am just catching up on forum posts and came across yours.
How are things now with your pup and older dog?
Have you had any more incidents? I don't have much experience personally of this but there is a lot of information on the forum that might help.
Let me know if you are still around. I would like to hear how you are doing.

    Welcome to you JudeC

My Tatze (19 months) did this at first when we were out and about with Gypsy (6 months). I also found she told Gypsy off - like a worried Mum. I walked her on the lead and Gypsy off for a few walks and she calmed down. I think she was worried Gypsy couldn't look after herself, but after observing her for a few walks she began to relax and is fine now.
