Hi Pippa A pug not a labrador!! So far "The Happy Puppy Handbook" has been my go to and Betty has been doing great. She is 14 weeks old. I have a problem with her chasing cars. She is excellent at recall home and out and about so I have been walking her off lead when safe eg: fields/parks. I live near a village green and the last 2 walks on the green off lead(it is a very big green) if she hears or sees a car she goes after it. As it stands recall training is holding and when I call her back she comes. I am rewarding this with a treat. The car can be in excess of 100metres away and it still grabs her interest. Today I started engaging her if I saw the car first to try and stop her engaging with the car which seemed to work. I just wanted to check this is the right thing to do? Is there anything else I should be doing? I would really hate for this to be a habit that sticks. Thanks in advance for any help this is my first car chaser!!
I would absorb all you can about Look At That and then implement it with the cars... There is a thread on it here: https://thelabradorforum.com/threads/look-at-that.22184/
