Do not make good play mates! Jura disturbed a wasp whilst snuffling around the garden this morning, and thought it would be fun to chase it . It did not end well for either the wasp or her. When I called her away from it the wasp decided it was coming too and stung her several times. Her wee face ended up with several stings and all swollen. Another trip to the vets for us, and thankfully injection has brought down the swelling. Poor wee mite looked like she'd taken up boxing! Oh and RIP Mr Wasp, sorry but you were still stinging my puppy's shoulder when I got to you
Ouch! She must feel miserable! I got stung by a wasp a few weeks back; it was agony and remained badly swollen for well over a week. I'm glad you managed to get her some help. My two like to chase wasps, too, and they are very drowsy at this time of year. They haven't been successful in catching one yet, though - thankfully!
Lady got stung a few years ago and she still hasn't forgotten the incident. Anything buzzing near her ears has her looking all around for wasps or bees!
Ooh poor girl! How Molly has not been stung this summer I do not know as she kept leaping at bees in the garden and they seemed very dozy this year. A few times I picked them up and moved them out of Molly's reach, without being stung myself.
My pooch went through a chase the bees/wasps phase, I'm sure he got stung more than once but he kept going back for more! He's grown out of it now, thankfully. Glad to hear your pup is feeling a bit better, I hope the discomfort doesn't last too long!
Oh poor Jura, we've been plagued by wasps in our garden this year, we had to section off an area around a tree where they were feeding. Hundreds of them and very drowsy, my husband googled it and found that where we live was experiencing a high incident of this, this year and drowsy on fruit and nectar with nothing else to do. Their wasp jobs were at an end so only feeding until they die off. We had to be really diligent in the garden but Dexter still found some and tried to play with them. I think he got stung twice but it didn't stop him. We did stomp on ones we found in the ground, don't like doing it but didn't want to cause to much agro for our young puppy either. Happily the numbers have really reduced now
Thankfully she seems fine today, apart from rubbing her face every now and then with her paw, but that could be her teeth. Certainly doesn't seem to have affected her energy levels in the slightest, nor her appetite!! Did give me a fright yesterday though when her little face swelled up so quickly. From lab puppy to chipmunk in a matter of seconds
Poor little thing. Poppy sat on a wasp's nest in our garden last year - she STILL doesn't like our lawn very much!! I didnt take her to the vet, but I applied a pack of frozen peas to her poor swollen little muzzle...
Karen I did wonder if I could off done that but the first time puppy owner nerves got the better of me and she was whisked to the vets! They probably love me down there!
No, I'm sure you were right to do that with a puppy. Poppy was already two years old when she got stung. I would have had a pup down the vets right away as well.
Thanks it's good to know that my initial instinct was right. As Jura is our first pup I sometimes wonder if I'm way over protective - which I am!!
