Re: Puppy #2
I don't mind at all! He had a home with an English couple and their two kids (one of whom is autistic) but, before they were due to collect him, they decided that they wouldn't be able to manage a puppy. Fair enough, I suppose.
I can understand thier reluctence but that said, for me getting a Lab was for exactly that reason, we have two kids one of whome is severly Autistic & I had read that Labradors where ideal companions for autistic children. ps, yes they get on realy well.
Re: Puppy #2 I know I've heard great stories of dogs and autistic children really getting on well together, but I suppose they decided it wasn't the right choice for them. Maybe they just thought it was too much to cope with, taking on a puppy when they already have a lot to deal with.
Re: Puppy #2 Well I guess in both cases they have both been really sensible making the decision ....I'm sure it wasn't easy for them ....but the silver lining is 2 little puppies get homes that can really look after them. Hope drive home goes ok....3 puppies on board hey! Good luck, drive safe x
Re: Puppy #2 I would say honestly that the first few weeks with Arthur (mild autism) and Bob have been tough going. We need to monitor the way Arthur behaves around Bob very carefully and he's what you call a 'sensory seeker' so tends to be a bit heavy handed with Bob. But that said, things are really starting to settle down now. They get on brilliantly. There are moments when we have to intervene, but Arthur keeps telling us that 'Bob is his best friend' which is just lovely to hear. I am so excited about their future together. I did calculate that Bob would be getting very close to old age/passing when Arthur is (hopefully) doing his GCSEs... that's one bridge to cross when we get there I guess.... It does worry me a bit though! xx

We actually had a bit of a 'mare. Had to stay an extra day and then had car trouble on the way home - with three puppies in the car! ARGH! So, we got back later than expected and, after talking to our friends who are having Dotty, decided it would be best to keep her with the other two overnight. So, yes, we've been rather busy! I'll start another thread for how it went....
Re: Puppy #2 Three!!! Arrrrggggggh! I had my craziest five days ever when Tatze was 11 weeks old, Gavin (Cavalier) was 15 years old and we looked after my niece's 5 month old Springer, Bryn while my niece was having the twins. So I can sympathise!

Shadow barked twice when we put them in, then he whined a bit at 5:45, so I let him (and only him) out in case he needed the loo. He didn't, so he went back in with only a little grumble and then I woke with a start at 7:40 when I realised I hadn't been woken by the puppies!! We do have a fair number of photos, although they do seem to gravitate to the legs of the person holding the camera, making it more difficult to get shots! I've not looked at them yet, but will have a peek later on and share what I have
Re: Puppy #2 Ah I'd gone over to your other thread once I'd written on this one,you all did great...and seriously, you got a lie in with 3 puppies in the house, brilliant! X
