Hi all, Haven't been on this site since before CHristmas - hope you are all well and had a good time over the festive period. THe reason for my absence has been due to my husband spending a goodly long while in hospital during the past 3 weeks. He got something called cellulitis - an infection of the lower skin dermis. It was extremely unpleasant and in the end quite serious as the first 2 lots of antibiotics they tried did not work. The consultant believes the infection probably stemmed from a cut on my husbands finger where he was caught by our puppies teeth whilst playing with him. Now, I have had many cuts from those razor teeth myself, but (unlike myself ) I don't think my husband thoroughly cleaned the wound and put any antiseptic on it (it being just a scratch), but it just shows how careful you need to be. The nurses were joking he must be part pup part Komodo dragon!!! Anyway, all pretty much returning to normal now. Digby is coming up 5 months and bites much less and has lost a fair few of those lethal baby teeth. I'm sure this is a freak occurrence but do be careful with any wounds caused by teeth, however small they seem.
Re: Puppy biting - word of warning! Oh dear , thats sounds dreadful , so sorry to hear about the infection , I agree 100% , when you think about what the little monsters pick up, its no wonder that their bites can carry such infections , glad that the biting has subsided now though .
Re: Puppy biting - word of warning! ouch! Is he fully recovered now? I must admit I don't worry too much about cuts and scratches from the dog either. Maybe I should be more careful.
Re: Puppy biting - word of warning! Okay now I'm worried .... Mcqueen has been getting out of hand lately and to be honest just before George's surgery this is the last thing I need.
Re: Puppy biting - word of warning! How awful for your husband and you, really hope he is back to full health very soon. Take care. Helen x
Re: Puppy biting - word of warning! Ugh I feel like a selfish twat Sersi no doubt it's the pressures coming up to various events to take place. I hope your husband fully recovers...fingers crossed doubly! This was definately a heads up topic for me...
Re: Puppy biting - word of warning! My husband is now fine, thanks all for asking - although his arm is still quite unpleasant looking the infection is completely gone. Labrina - I think this kind of thing is incredibly unusual so don't worry unduly, I just wanted to point out it is worth being vigilant with cleanliness of any cuts, especially those made by teeth.
