We adopted a rescue lab who is now 5.5 months and 40lbs. He was fed Fromms puppy at the shelter. Ever since we brought him home (4 months ago) he's had uncontrollable diarrhea. We've tried switching to Fromms Chicken a la Veg and Wellness Core Large Breed Puppy and neither have worked. The vet has done a fecal test and a blood test for viral infections and bacteria and both came back negative. The only time he doesn't have diarrhea is when we put him on sweet potato and ground turkey. We'd really like to get him on some kibble though rather than cooking him fresh meals every day. Any ideas on kibble or what is going on? We're desperate.

Are you sure the runny poo clears up when he is on sweet potato and ground turkey? If this isn't just a random one off thing, then it tells you the problem is related to diet rather than parasites and you will need to identify what foods he can and can't tolerate and work from there.

Many dogs can't tolerate grain, so I'd suggest trying a grain-free kibble. I'd also look for a very simple kibble with only one protein in it. The problem with many is that there are loads of ingredients and that makes it really hard to identify what the dog can't eat.

You could also try a raw diet, as many dogs tolerate raw food much better than cooked - cooking denatures fats and kills nutrients and healthy bacteria. You could try looking for a simple raw diet.

Either way, you are looking for one protein source and you are going to need to start with very limited ingredients and gradually expand to experiment and find what he can't tolerate - in other words, to do an exclusion diet.
