My 9 month old puppy Belle has got into a bad habit of finding sticks on walks and eating them. I have never encouraged her to play with or pick up sticks and I’m struggling to get her out of this behaviour before it causes a vet trip! So far any bits of stick ingested have come out the other end.

She knows leave it although is hit and miss when it comes to a stick and I found trading for a treat was encouraging her to pick them up more to be told to drop and be rewarded. I’ve also tried ignoring the behaviour but that didn’t seem to make a difference.

Looking for some advice please on how to tackle this issue. Thank you in advance!!

My 9 1/2 month old Luna does exactly the same! She just loves sticks and chewing on them. I look forward to seeing what advise people give!
