my boy is 6 months now I give him royal canine biscuits (over 2 months) and I add some wet food to it, does that have to be puppy food? I have just seen it is for adult, he is fine, loves his food but was just wandering does it have to be puppy or will it not make much difference.
At 6 months old I would keep his food all 'puppy' recipes as it is formulated for his growing needs. Adult food is formulated for the maintenance of an adult dog.
Hi Jacquelina, Jojo has given you some good advice above, and you can find more information on puppy food choices and when to switch to adult food here: Feeding Your Labrador Puppy.
Great article above, in summary, you need to choose a puppy food designed to accommodate the nutrient and mineral needs of large breed puppies and is lower in carbs. Stick to a bit below the guidelines for feeding your puppy as I have found a puppy can easily get fat even with the best of foods! Puppies do go through quite dramatic growth spurts, so keep an eye on your puppy looks and feels, rather then what it says on the back of the packet
