No, I don't think so. People say that 'it'll do the pup good to be told off' but I don't think they need to learn this at first. You want them to think all dogs are friendly, and there is absolutely nothing at all to be be scared of (personally, I think Betsy came knowing this, so all I have to do is make sure nothing changes her mind, she doesn't get to say hello to many dogs at all). I think they can learn doggie manners and about getting told off later, when they are obnoxious over confident teenagers, not when they are tiny babies.
Ok thanks JulieT, hopefully we don't run into any more :/ I was rather shocked to see how meanly people treat their dogs around here. One lady yelling viciously, another yanking hard on the lead, another man slapping his aggressive dog in the face (one of the ones that wanted to attack our pup). It made me feel rather sick.
