Hi, just joined the forum. We have owned Golden Retrievers and Labradors for over 24 years now. We recently lost our beloved boy to epilepsy and the space where he once filled now seems so empty. After much deliberation we have decided to get another dog.
We are on a waiting list for a puppy due this week. I have a question....we are not intending to breed with our dog, but have noticed the breeder has hip scores etc for the stud but appears to have no information regarding Mum. Part of me feels we shouldn’t proceed, but what are the chances of getting a dog with hip dysplasia? Grateful for advice

The advice on here will be to not buy a dog that has not been health tested. It is not worth the risk.

Hi, I totally agree with @J.D don't buy a pup without knowing the full results of all health tests. It is just not worth the expensive emotional and financial gamble along the way. There are plenty of good breeders who can provide this information. Good luck with your search.

Thank you both. That’s what we thought. We’re on a list with a kennel club assured breeder who will be getting his bitch ready for breeding soon. He does have all the checks in place, so I think we must be patient.
