Hello, We are collecting our lab puppy next weekend at 8 weeks after first vaccination. This site is a wealth of information, Thankyou! I’m conflicted about the first 4 weeks whilst awaiting the 2nd set of jabs. Could our puppy meet & play with our neighbours vaccinated 7 year old lab (Nell)? We have looked after Nell often, and she treats our house as hers really. Sadly our neighbours are moving away in January along with Nell so keen for our puppy & Nell to interact but also have read that until 2nd vaccination we should be very cautious. Interested to hear thoughts on this. Thankyou so much !!

It would be low risk, but not risk free. If Nell has been for a walk in the same area as a dog with parvo, for example, she could bring it into your house/garden. It would be no different though than if you already had a second dog that you were walking off your property every day.

Yes, from one week after 1st vaccination it's totally fine. It's probably totally fine immediately to be honest - after all, many of us already have dogs and bring home puppies which interact with them immediately - what's the difference if the dog is next door instead of your own...?
