I have a 18 wk old puppy, he has been doing really well potty training(hardly no accidents)and then the past couple of days he is totally gone backwards. He is having accident right in front of us and more than times per day, he does drink alot of water and we do let him out every 30min, I am wondering what is going on or could this maybe be a uti?
Hi Nancy, It's certainly a good idea to ask a vet to rule out underlying health problems such as a UTI. Has anything else changed for your puppy? I remember that first impression that we were finally nailing potty training, and joyously throwing open the doors to the rest of the house again (I was SO fed up of spending all my time in the kitchen!) But of course, the rest of the house was exciting and distracting, and covered in lovely soft carpet - which our puppy promptly started peeing on. So we learned the hard way not to rush to be confident about our puppy's bladder control in all areas of the house! Puppies generally don't have reliable bladder control until they're at least 6 or 7 months old - the success we have in the meantime is more due to our good management (or lack of it) than them having control. I'm not sure if this is something might also apply to you or not (I don't want to assume that you're as cavalier as I was!)
My new 7-week old puppy won't go to the bathroom. She just either sits or wanders around when I take her out. I just picked her up today but I have taken her out 3 times, and during every single one of them, she hasn't had any accidents and I think she might be too nervous but I'm not sure. She looks completely fine healthwise but you can never be too careful!
