bracken ( red fox lab ) approx 15 weeks old , had loose stools when with her previous owner which then continued when we got her home. being new dog owners though that was normal ! Then discovered blood in her poo -- off to vets and treated for collitis, cleared very quickly . Shes a happy, active pup, fully crate trained. The past week she has has done normal poos but the end bit is loose and today actually pood in her crate ( never done that before) , the following poo outside was mucoid at the end but firm at start. We had wlaked her yesterday over muddy fileds and she did manage to drink from muddy puddles before we could stop her ? connected. I feel all I talk about is poo !!! In fact , my husband has just come in and said ' at least its thickened up ' , me, on the poo trail replied , thats great , ha ha --- he was referring to a casserole left in crockpot overnight ! what a life !

has anyone experienced this problem , any advice welcome.

Hullo! A poo that starts firm and ends up soft is often a sign of overfeeding, so maybe cut back on the amount of food for a while and see if that helps.

Don't worry, you're not alone being obsessed with poo! :D

Harley had a similar problem for several months. In the end we found out she is allergic to wheat. We had to change her food to grain free and it firmed her up and got rid of the soggy poo and blood.
It can also be to do with over eating. I only ever feed about 80% of the recommended amount and adjust if she is looking too slight or too pudgy.
Hope you manage to get it sorted :)

I don't have any advice (sorry!) but just to let you know that I ALWAYS inspect my boy's poo. And if my husband takes him for a walk, the first question when they come home: How was his poo? Such an obsession!!!! A friend with a Lab said that her happiness is often dependent on her boy's poo. You are not alone ;D
