I posted on here a few weeks ago about my frustration with my hubby not helping with the training then getting frustrated when Oakley doesn't listen to him. Well he has been finally working some with Oakley. I can't complain. He has been working on focus and now when he tells him to focus Oakley goes into an immediate sit with him and looks at him. We are just working with duration at the door. He will have him sit and stay but sometimes it takes hubby too long to get out the door so Oakley isn't staying, I think he just needs to work up to longer stays with him. I am so thankful he is at least trying, it could be better but i wont complain. One thing I could use advise on, is only out one particular door when both our dogs go out this door they always go into a scuffle where they bark at each other, it sounds bad it's brief but we are trying to figure out how to stop this behaviour. It's only out one door.

Is all that they are doing is barking at each other? Could be that they are are excited to run around outside (or whatever is on the far side of that doorway), If such is the case, then I would not worry about it.

But if they are bullying each other, then do Simon says. Get them both to sit. Simon says, release cue to dog X, then when X is out, give release cue to Dog Y. Next time, reverse who gets to go outside first. You might need to try releasing them at different times just to roam around the house before you venture to a potentially more distracting adventure through that door.

Good news on your husband's interest in training. Reinforce with a cup of coffee. ;)

I can't tell if they are bullying or playing, they go out the door and our older dog will start to bark then the puppy will kind of get in his face and bark, it sounds like a dog fight but it's not they aren't really engaging with each other only our puppy will be in older dogs face but it's brief like 2 - 3 seconds.
We have been trying to do the sit and wait however, for one our older dog doesn't hear well which is difficult, 2 when we do have both in a sit and we tell the puppy to come older dog will not wait, and vise versa, only through this door, I can get the puppy to sit and wait at any other door but this door. I think that either this door has become habit for this OR they associate it with something fun because this door means either getting in the car or going out front to mailbox. We'll just keep working, puppy has been making improvements with a few other things so I'm hopeful we'll get it

Doorways can be areas of difficulty for dogs as they represent a threshold. Frequently when a dog moves into another dog's territory or area, this can cause difficulties for the dog whose area is entered - if the dog has feelings about that.

In which case, it is best to let the dog that isn't bothered out first (the puppy in your case) and then allow the older dog to follow. I wouldn't personally worry with Sit and Waits etc, I'd just momentarily take hold of the collar of the older dog to allow the puppy out first.
