Sorry if this is yet another silly question, is it OK for Charlie to carry his rabbit ball after his session of retrieving it? Helen x :-[

Not silly Helen.....I'm looking forward to any replies too!Dexter gets 3 throws or find its and I put it away.....it's treated like the holy grail as he seems to really like it...and I've seen written on here to ration Retreives....not sure of the reason....is it to keep a reluctant retreiver keen?anyway that's what we are doing dont know where it sits with the rights and wrongs, but Dexter is bringing it at least right back to my feet and sometimes even dropping it in my hand.have you had a good day with Charlie today? X

We are still at the stage where Sophie and I get the ball out now and again and play with it only allowing Lilly a wee sniff.
Not quite sure exactly what to do next. Will have to re-read your threads Helen.

The only thing is.......do you think we have make a fatal mistake in culturing rabbit fur interest? ;D ;D

Blimey I hope NOT Jac ;D Helen xx

Angela, David took Charlie out for his usual walk this morning and he was great but on a training line, he rertrieved his NEW rabbit ball but carried it home ::) The rabbit ball is used sparingly to up the desire to retrieve it, we started in the house a sniff and then a couple of retrieves, moving into the garden with a couple of retrieves, now throwing into harder to retrieve areas and upped to about 3 minutes, also retrieving on total recall training using it to keep Charlie's attention, which only sometimes works ::) Good luck with your bunny balls ;D Helen xx

Its very cute at the moment.
Bit like the real bunny :)
Visitors tonight so might not have time to read the info tonight.
Decided to hand-feed Lilly her breakfast this morning as we had a woodland romp then a hydrotherapy swim and I wanted to keep her keen for the latter (and reduce her sinkability). Have to say, it fairly worked! Just away to try a few whistle stops to finish off the rest before getting Sophie.

It is not a silly question and it is OK.

    BUT, :D, I still wouldn't do it.

The reason, familiarity breeds contempt. Keep it for his very special treat. Make it something amazing, that he only has when you want to play retrieving. He will be less likely to get bored with it that way.

OK understood. He can have a plain old tennis ball to carry home. Thanks Pippa. Helen x
