Might be a while yet guys. I've got him to play dead so far with a treat shoved under his nose. We'll try again tonight (You can tell OH's on nights )
Proud of Lilly. Our doggy visitor of the moment is very much a grazer. Never eats all her food at once. Yesterday it sat down in our sitting room all day and Lilly never once went to eat it. Even more of a surprise since she has been allowed in the past to clear up the uneaten puppy food, so she has had that food before under permission. We didn't do the August challenge but I think that is a pretty good substitute Our dogs surprise us all the time, don't they
Coco - The Example Dog. A bit of trumpet-blowing follows: Last night at training, there was 13 dogs all sat next to their handler, in a big circle. The trainer asked each handler to "down" their dog verbally, in turn. Most had to use a hand signal with a verbal. OH & Coco and a couple of others did verbal only. The cocky girl with the (beautiful) Doberman used a hand signal only. The trainer picked her up on it explaining what he wanted. It was for an instance where the dog might be out of sight, or with their back to you. She huffed & argued then said "easy peasy", then demonstrated that Roxy only knew the cue with visual aid too. On her "down" Roxy just sat there staring at her. Ha! The trainer then took Coco about 10ft away from OH and got him to "sit" "down" and "come" Coco, without moving a muscle and my star boy did exactly as asked. I knew he'd do it - after practicing with my back to him last week. So proud of him.
Oh cute! I saw a man walking through town this morning with an open-fronted knapsack slung across his front. Odd...but when we passed I saw he had a tiddly little black Pug smiling out of it - puppy socialisation! It's OK, I don't WANT a Pug, but the whole man/bag/puppy thing was sweet.
When I was walking my lab through the neighbourhood, a little girl of about 10 asked if she could pet him, I said sure. As she was cuddling him she said she had this "funny story" to tell me, about their dog...apparently while at the park, her dog ran after a little boy playing with a football and knocked him over Not particularly funny...but as I was digesting this, I asked her, "do you have a Lab?". I think we can all guess her answer
Nice walk but horrible sight.our local very obese really really fat lab was out in the park. I avoid the owner if possible as she makes me very angry. He just gets fatter and fatter. He's on a diet but now the vet has refused to weigh him as the owner is clearly not following the diet. He was out in the hot weather and collapsed his owner ran into a shop got some water and was throwing it over him trying cool him down. He survived this but today in the heat they are throwing a ball for him. It's painful to watch. internally I was screaming for them to stop. His joints are suffering enough and it was just too hot. I really dislike this cruel woman .
I was shattered tonight and wanted an early night. Didn't even pretend to OH I wasn't taking Stanley to bed. 9.30 and we're both tucked up happily
Can this be reported to the RSPCA or someone? Feel sad for the dog and can fully understand your frustrations
